Ethical Hardwood
NZITTG fully endorses the Ethical Hardwood campaign.
We believe the NZ timber industry has a responsibility to only import product that has been sourced by responsible stewards who cut what they grow in a year, and who provide a sustainable future for the forest communities and wildlife that live there.
What Ethical Hardwood stands for
VISION.
100% ethically sourced hardwood into NZ.
MISSION.
To launch a campaign to educate architects, builders, landscape architects and consumers that ethical hardwood is the best choice for their projects – and the planet.
GOAL.
New Zealand currently leads the world in importing ethically sourced hardwood.
Becoming 100% ethically sourced will mean that New Zealand has taken a stand to only buy hardwood that has achieved global FSC/PEFC environmental certification or has passed strict sourcing criteria of the NZITTG, New Zealand’s imported timber trade group.
DOING THE RIGHT THING
What does Ethical mean?
Ethically sourced means doing the right thing for the country where we source our timber. We are committed to looking after the environment and people that live and work there.
